Cyclocross - Kaysee Armstrong

I was pretty excited about the state champs. I was eager to try out the new Zoldar tubulars from Nox Composites on the Giant TCX Advanced, and it was a challenging course with some technical climbing and fast descents. I went for it off the line with a big dig, and was able to put a big gap in between the competition and me.  After catching the Master's category, I ended up battling with them the rest of the race. I was able to put together a good race without any big mistakes and came home with the title.

This ended up being a great preamble for Turkey Cross where some fierce competition came out.  Rebecca Gross, who has spent time racing in the UCI cups around the country, and Jane Burlew kept me on my toes with battles in the sand pits and tricky off camber sections.  Very similar to the state championships I put in a big dig at the beginning, but unlike state I was not able to develop a huge gap.  I tried to stay smooth and made a few mistakes, including running into the tape and rolling around on the ground in the heckle pit, but kept putting in some hard efforts and was able to take the win!
